Achievement Week / Social Action
Achievement Week is one of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity's most significant annual observances, dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the accomplishments of individuals who exemplify excellence in their fields and communities. Established in 1920, this week-long celebration promotes the importance of striving for excellence in every area of life, particularly among African Americans.

Sigma Rho takes great pride in its annual Achievement Week, during which we demonstrate our unwavering commitment to the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti community by organizing a series of impactful events. Through these initiatives, we actively engage in community service, fostering connections and providing support to uplift and empower those we serve. This week serves as a testament to our dedication to making a positive and lasting difference in the lives of those in our local community.

Shopping with the Ques
This is an annual event where Sigma Rho partners with the local Meijer supermarket to provide children the opportunity to shop for gifts for their families or themselves during the holiday season. Our participation in this initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting and uplifting the community, particularly during this special time of year.

Jackets for Jobs
Sigma Rho partnered with Southeastern Michigan's Jackets for Jobs program to donate over 100 suits and jackets to men in need. This initiative aligns with our mission to empower individuals by providing essential resources that support their professional development and personal success.

Coat Drive
We partnered with the Women of Ford for our annual coat drive, aimed at providing winter coats to middle and elementary school children in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti to ensure they stay warm during the winter months. The Women of Ford generously contributed $10,000 through the Sigma Rho’s non profit (SMOFI), making this initiative a resounding success.

Assault on Illiteracy
At our last event we talked about the importance of having your own library and gave out copies of the Malcolm X autobiography by Alex Haley.

Sigma Rho’s Assault on Illiteracy program is a national initiative aimed at addressing the literacy challenges within underserved communities. Through tutoring, reading programs, and educational partnerships, the Sigma Rho works to improve reading skills, foster a love for learning, and reduce illiteracy rates. This initiative reflects Omega Psi Phi’s commitment to academic excellence, youth development, and empowering individuals to reach their full potential through education.

NPHC Easter Egg Hunt
Each year, Sigma Rho partners with the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) to support and uplift the students at Perry Elementary School in Ypsilanti through their annual Easter Egg Hunt. This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to community engagement and fostering positive experiences for local youth.

Sigma Rho Chapter
Highway Clean Up and Trash Removal
Our chapter is also deeply committed to environmental stewardship. The Michigan Department of Transportation has designated a two-mile stretch of I-94 for the Omega Men of Sigma Rho Chapter to maintain. We are the only Greek Organization along the I-94 stretch in Michigan to have a stretch of road designated. Each year, we actively participate in cleanup efforts, ensuring that our community remains clean and well-preserved. This initiative highlights our dedication to both civic responsibility and environmental sustainability.
