Brother  Your  On  My  Mind

Mental Health Awareness for Black Men

  • The OMEGA PSI PHI Incorporated’s Brother Your On My Mind mental Health Awareness campaign is dedicated to addressing the pressing issue of mental health within our community. Recognizing that mental health is a fundamental component of overall well-being, it’s aim is to highlight and address its often-overlooked significance, especially among Black men.

  • The Sigma Rho Brother You Are On My Mind Committee for Mental Health Awareness is committed to bringing attention to this critical issue and providing essential resources to support our members, their families, and the broader community.

  • Sigma Rho’s Brother You are on my mind Committee Chairman, Bro. Dr. Ural Hill has been working diligently with the Talented 10th District. His initiatives include the expansion of Community Violence Intervention programs within the City of Detroit. 

  • Dr. Hill has been pivotal in uniting all Michigan Chapters with participation in the Brother Your On My Mind Campaign, contributing significantly at the local, district, national, and international levels. His dedication and contributions make him an asset to the Sigma Rho Chapter.

Partnership with Ann Arbor Black Nurses Association

  • The Sigma Rho Chapter is proud to partner with the Black Nurses Association of Ann Arbor to address the health crisis impacting African Americans. This collaboration focuses on educating the community about diabetes, including its causes, effects, warning signs, A1C levels, prevention, and treatment. Brothers J. White, David Francis and Leslie Davis have played key roles in Sigma Rho’s efforts to promote awareness about the importance of diabetes testing and prediabetes prevention.  

  • Sigma Rho also participated in the Men’s Health Walk & Run at Fuller Park in Ann Arbor Michigan.

Brother Charles R Drew Blood Drive

  • Brother Dr. Charles Richard Drew was an American surgeon and medical researcher. He researched in the field of blood transfusions, developing improved techniques for blood storage, and applied his expert knowledge to developing large-scale blood banks early in World War II.

  • The Sigma Rho Chapter honors Brother Drew’s legacy through its collaboration with the Washtenaw County American Red Cross to promote and organize the annual Charles Drew Blood Drive. This initiative underscores Sigma Rho’s dedication to preserving and advancing the legacy of Bro. Dr. Charles Drew. Our ongoing commitment to this cause is reflected in our proactive efforts and active involvement in ensuring that Brother Drew’s contributions continue to have a meaningful impact on the community.
